Senior Security Engineer

This position will be responsible for architecting, designing and implementing security solutions to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the client's network and information assets. They will work with company personnel to secure complex networks that include traditional on-premise hardware, virtualized and cloud environments.


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
  • Intermediate to advanced experience with the following technologies is preferred:
    • Next Generation Firewalls and their security features (Palo Alto, CheckPoint, etc.)
    • Splunk, ArcSight or comparable Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) systems
    • Packet brokering technologies (NetScout, Apcon, Gigamon, Ixia)
    • Virtualization solutions (VMware, Citrix, Microsoft Hyper-V, Amazon EC2)
    • Container Orchestration Platforms (Kubernetes, AWS Fargate, Google Container Engine)
  • Strong knowledge of telecommunications and data network systems including Long-Term Evolution (LTE), core network switching and network routing protocols including OSPF and BGP
  • Advanced network troubleshooting and network protocol analysis skills
  • Ability to effectively organize tasks, manage multiple priorities/details, meet schedules, and deliver on customer commitments
  • Effective oral and written communications skills with the ability to convey complex technical issues in business terms
  • Ability to lead a project from concept through implementation and anticipate potential problems preferred

Job Responsibilities:

  • Specify, design, procure, install and configure security hardware and software solutions
  • Work with business partners to assess and identify potential cyber risks and recommend solutions to address threats to the company and its customers
  • Understand, relate and transform information security regulatory requirements into information security policy, standards, procedures, and guidelines
  • Influence the utility industry’s creation, adoption and implementation of information security practices by participating in and leading industry forums, events, and committees
  • Assist in the development of client’s security architecture – identify areas of opportunity, research alternatives, and recommend solutions
  • Provide internal technology security expertise by defining and influencing appropriate policies, technologies, processes, and controls to reduce risk
  • Support cross-functional teams to investigate, analyze, and make recommendations to leadership on current strategy or operational issues
  • Partner with others to identify and resolve information security issues
  • Ensure new products and services conform to information security policies, standards, and best practices; conduct risk assessments of key company engagements and develop appropriate mitigation plans
  • Plan, coordinate and provide subject matter leadership on information security projects
  • Educate business partners to understand and apply information security concepts, processes, and technologies
  • Prioritize and manage competing business demands
  • Provide subject matter expertise in areas of network security and segmentation
  • Present ideas, findings, education, and other concepts in a concise and focused manner to audiences at various levels within the organization
  • Maintain current knowledge of information security concepts, technologies, and practices
