Database Developer/Programmer

POSITION SUMMARY:

Datum’s Government Solutions team is currently looking to hire an experienced Database Developer to design, develop, and deploy operational databases throughout the Air Force Learning Services Ecosystem (AFLSE) lifecycle. Provide technical expertise in the database design and baseline configuration of data required for the AFLSE program. The Database Developer will implement database enhancements and new database projects through all phases of the system development life cycle and deliver database solutions to the Datum team, government clients, and stakeholders.

The successful candidate must be self-motivated and have an assertive yet professional demeanor, a high technical aptitude, be detail oriented, and possess strong multitasking skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Build and maintenance Structured Query Language (SQL) databases
  • Create and maintain SQL and Python scripts
  • Work in development environment like Microsoft & Oracle SQL Developer
  • Assist clients in achieving strategic objectives through data solution implementation
  • Translating business requirements into technical details relevant to the AFLSE configuration and integration team and design, modify design of, and implement changes to database structures to meet business requirements
  • Participate in gathering requirements, planning, and implementation data
  • Define the current database designs
  • Develop to-be designs, including data migration plans
  • Understand the client’s technical environment and how they use technology to provide the best, focused advice
  • Work with key business partners, technical staff, and vendors to understand what data will be collected by new systems and provide recommendations on how the data will flow through systems with consideration for a phased implementation and desired future state
  • Analyze business requirements and convert into technical data requirements
  • Collaborate with data manager, data architect and AFLSE government team to define standards, policies, and procedures to improve the management of information and data throughout its lifecycle with an emphasis on improvements to data quality

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • DoD or other U.S. Security Clearance is required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems or other IT related field
  • 5+ years of database development and programming experience
  • Proven experience with SQL, Python, C, & PHP, or other
  • Knowledge of Java, C++ and C#
  • Strong programming database development skills
  • Experience with data modeling and database design from conceptualization to optimization
  • Knowledge of best practices for database programming principles, standards, guidelines and concepts
  • Strong understanding of data modeling tools and standards, Extract, Transform, & Load (ETL) tools, data integration tools, and advanced SQL
  • Demonstrated analytical selfstarter who thinks fast on their feet
  • The ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Experience with cloud-based data solutions using new or emerging technologies
  • Understanding of data and database architecture principles and database management systems
  • Experience with the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Experience with Agile Scrum methodologies
  • Experience with Department of Defense rules, regulation and policies (preferred)
  • Expert analytical, written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Expert in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Access and Word)
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a government led MultiFunctional Team (MFT)
  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work within a team and independently
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects while meeting stringent deadlines

 

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Program Manager.
