POSITION SUMMARY:

Datum’s Government Solutions team is currently looking to hire an experienced Microsoft Azure Engineer to develop, review, design, revise, integrate, and maintain the Air Force Learning Services Ecosystem (AFLSE) Azure cloud environment. The Azure Engineer will provide technical expertise in the architecture, design, and baseline configuration of the Azure environment for the AFLSE program. The Microsoft Azure engineer will deliver complex content management solutions to customers and be able to work effectively both as an individual, and as part of a team that is led by a Project Manager.

The successful candidate must be self-motivated and have an assertive yet professional demeanor, a high technical aptitude, be detail oriented, and possess strong multitasking skills.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Assist clients in achieving strategic objectives through technology solution implementation
  • Setup and configure AFLSE Azure development, testing, and production environments
  • Translating business requirements into technical details relevant to the AFLSE configuration and integration team
  • Understand the client’s technical environment and how they use technology to provide the best, focused advice
  • Provide technical support to the AFLSE staff by reviewing Azure and Data Center environments and recommending best practices from the Microsoft
  • Provide input into estimating engagement activities and execute engagements following the Agile methodology including SCRUM
  • Provide Architectural services to modernize cloud solution
  • Provide technical assistance, consulting, configuration, and troubleshooting assistance to the team on the agency’s Azure, Windows Server, and SQL environments
  • Assist with server configurations, implementations, operations, and security monitoring
  • Review each of the existing Windows Servers and SQL Servers:
    • Evaluate their ability to be virtualized
    • Evaluate their ability to be migrated to Azure
    • Develop a plan to upgrade them to the current Windows Server operating system or current SQL Server database. Once plan is approved, assist the staff in the upgrade and migration of such servers
    • Provide recommendations to minimize the Windows Server licensing costs for all servers evaluated while meeting Microsoft’s licensing requirements
    • Maintain the Windows Server and SQL Server configurations and settings baselines based upon DoD STIG recommendations
  • Evaluate and recommend methods to automate the deployment of servers, using the baseline configurations
    • Once recommendations are approved, assist in the implementation of those automated deployments using existing tools including Microsoft System Center and Azure native capabilities
  • Provide technical expertise in the architecture, design, and baseline configuration of the Azure Data Center, including maintaining security zones

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems or other IT related field
  • 3-5 years of Microsoft Azure Cloud experience
  • Experience with the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Experience with Agile Scrum methodologies
  • Experience with Department of Defense rule, regulation and policies (preferred)
  • Expert analytical, written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Expert in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Access and Word)
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a government led MultiFunctional Team (MFT)
  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work within a team and independently
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects while meeting stringent deadlines

 

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Program Manager.
