POSITION SUMMARY:

Datum’s Government Solutions team is currently looking to hire an experienced Data Manager, alongside the Data Architect will drive data governance and data management solutions and capabilities for the Air Force Learning Services Ecosystem (AFLSE) program. Provide technical expertise in the architecture, design, and baseline configuration of data required for the AFLSE program. The Data manager is responsible for all aspects of data management, including but not limited to, policy and standard development, data cataloging, issue collection and resolution, auditing, and process improvements as it relates to the data strategy. The Data Manager will work alongside the Datum Data Architect, Datum technical team, government client’s and stakeholders.

The successful candidate must be self-motivated and have an assertive yet professional demeanor, a high technical aptitude, be detail oriented, and possess strong multitasking skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Contribute to the overall AFLSE data strategy
  • Assist clients in achieving strategic objectives through data solution implementation
  • Audits and revises data management policies, standards, and procedures
  • Oversees the deployment of data management standards across the AFLSE environment
  • Establishes and manages an enterprise data taxonomy and catalog
  • Identifies, selects and implements tools and processes (once government approved) to support data governance, metadata management, data discovery and data extraction
  • Facilitates enterprise data management initiatives and priorities, and monitors the adherence enterprise projects to data management and industry standards
  • Identifies data trends, data quality issues and recommendations for improvement
  • Participate in gathering requirements, planning, and implementation of a master data management program and related data governance improvements
  • Oversee the deployment of data management standards across the AFLSE environment
  • Work with key business partners, technical staff, and vendors to understand what data will be collected by new systems and provide recommendations on how the data will flow through systems with consideration for a phased implementation and desired future state
  • Identifies, selects and implements tools and processes (once government approved) to support data governance, metadata management, data discovery and data extraction
  • Analyze business requirements and convert into technical data requirements
  • Collaborate with Data Architect and AFLSE government team to define standards, policies, and procedures to improve the management of information and data throughout its lifecycle with an emphasis on improvements to data quality
  • Establish and manage an enterprise data taxonomy and catalog

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems or other IT related field
  • 5+ years’ experience as Data Management Analyst
  • Demonstrates ability to analyze and use data systematically
  • Demonstrates ability to interpret and translate complex statistics and numeric data
  • Demonstrates awareness of the practices needed to collect, handle, and protect the organization’s data from compromise, corruption and loss.
  • Maintains focus, and persistence, even under adversity, while maintaining the confidence of key stakeholders
  • Experience with the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Experience with Agile Scrum methodologies
  • Experience with Department of Defense rule, regulation and policies (preferred)
  • Expert analytical, written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Expert in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Access and Word)
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a government led MultiFunctional Team (MFT)
  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work within a team and independently
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects while meeting stringent deadlines

 

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Program Manager.
